I went to see the cherry blossoms at Heian Jingu today, a shrine most famous for its gardens.
I liked looking at this waterway outside the shrine. It reminds me of anime, with its low concrete sides angling down into the water.

Some women were in full kimono, and a few couples were wearing traditional Japanese clothing together.

Today I learned that there are different colors of cherry blossom trees and different kinds. There are white, pink, and a lot of purplish-pink ones. There are ones like willow trees, bending down like umbrellas, and then there are the ones that stand up straight, seeming to spray their flowers into the sky.

I love that you can see the difference in types, just in these photos. The ones in the second photo are so bright and sort of delicate looking, whereas the third photo looks like bright pink snowballs! Absolutely gorgeous.
